The lyrics

Last Big Thing It might come in sackcloth, it might come in silks and lace…

Guitar Victims We sailed south from the Cape to the land where the song-trees grow…

The Time They got us pressed down tight, but they can’t blow out the light…

Minds of Men Are the minds of men as foolish as the thoughts of God are wise?

Don’t Look Back Down in the woods there’s a world of depravity…

Sun Shines Bright I’ve been sitting by the window, watching the world go…

Three Kings ‘I bin burnin’ up the highway till I feel I’m made of smoke…’

Wrong Turns So you’d like to be my friend and I’d love to be your lover…

Five Get You Ten The who, how, why, where and when….

Hitler Cried When the enemy came in spite and scattered tares in the night…

Like Love Brings out the poem in your soul…

Spent I’m just like my money…

Cockcrow Darkness over all the earth from the sixth hour to the ninth…

Dear Father Since you’ve been gone the hours crawl like minutes…

(Note: the illustrations to the lyrics are details from Giotto’s frescoes in the Scrovegni chapel in Padua.)
