9 Went
Walking

My love and I went walking in the
woods
Oh when youre with me
Where every leaf on every tree
And every bird and beast we see
Speaks and writes philosophy.
I wish I could do nothing
But good.
My love and I went walking
in the fields
Oh for a lifetime
Where every tear that ever ran
And every plea and every ban
Were laid aside by the smiling land.
I wish I could nothing
But yield.
My love and I went walking
on the hill
Oh one more time again
And well forget everything we know,
Watching the warm winds blow,
Having nothing left to show.
I wish I could do nothing
But still.
My love and I went walking
down the road
Just like two poor pilgrims,
Stones and dust beneath our feet,
Heading for a land replete
With milk and honey, wine and wheat,
Where wed do all that
We could.
